Hello everyone

We are delighted that the campaign has done so well in its first day. We funded after 1.5 hours and are well on our way to doubling our target. Thank you so much for supporting Lovecraftesque.

If you love this project and want it to do as well as possible, the main way you can help is by sharing the project with friends or on social media, and telling them why you are excited about it. Your enthusiasm is so much more powerful than anything we could write about the game. So please do share it around - it really helps!

We haven't created any stretch goals for this campaign, because we wanted to make sure that all the amazing art and scenarios that we wanted to see in the game were included right from the start. Over the course of the campaign I'll talk about what's included, and I'd like to start with some of the scenarios that are included in the core box:
  • A Place In The Country by Lynne Hardy. This is a classic Lovecraftian scenario, with a spooky old mansion laden with secrets and hidden trauma, together with an inheritance and family secrets. Lynne is a well-known Lovecraftian game writer, and she has come up with a really compelling scenario here.
  • Echoes of Vulcan by Darla Burrow. If you ever thought there was something eldritch about all those Roman cults... you are right! This scenario looks at the days before the destruction of Pompeii and asks whether it was really just a volcano that caused the city's downfall? I think ancient Rome and cosmic horror were made for each other and Darla has done a fantastic job putting them together.
  • Ex Nihilo by Joshua Fox. A small group of scientists and astronauts fly their ship into a black hole, and discover that physics isn't the only thing that breaks down beyond the event horizon. This is a first edition scenario that I wrote for a zine, now updated for the second edition. I love black holes, and this scenario celebrates everything that is weird about them.

By the way, a few people have wondered how scenarios can work in a game where the story is fully invented at the table. The scenarios follow the same philosophy as the rest of Lovecraftesque, by providing inspiring and evocative prompts that you can choose from and tailor to the story you're creating. Each scenario provides locations and characters that you can drop into your story and use how you will; and clue cards with several themed ideas for clues you could put into your mystery. So the story and the mystery are yours to create: the scenarios fast forward the creative process and make it easy to jump right into a particular setting and style of eldritch horror story.

I'm also very excited about the fact that the scenario cards can be combined with those from other scenarios, and the main deck, to create your own customised scenario packs. Even without doing this there's a lot of replayability here, but by combining and recombining there's no limit to the stories you can tell.

Thanks again for backing Lovecraftesque - we're really excited to get it into your hands.
